Free Bulk PSD Mockup Generator: 200 Mockups a Month, Complex Included
A free bulk PSD mockup generator is only useful if it handles your real templates. Most free tools give you their scenes, one image at a time, or a tiny batch that is gone after two products. As of October 2026, PodBulk’s Free plan works differently: it fills your own PSD templates with up to 20 PSDs × 50 designs per run — the same run size as the paid plan — includes the Complex engine for multi-smart-object templates, and gives you 200 mockups a month. It runs in your browser, with no Photoshop and no card.
Key takeaways
- Same run size as PAID: 20 PSDs × 50 designs per run on Free.
- Complex is free now, next to Quick Smart O.
- 200 mockups a month; Bulk Rename never counts.
- Failed run? PodBulk names the reason and offers a quick questionnaire.
What do you get on the PodBulk Free plan?
The PodBulk Free plan gives you both browser engines, a 20 PSD × 50 design run size and 200 mockups a month. That is a working allowance, not a trial. You upload PSD templates that have a smart object for the print area, add your designs, and PodBulk renders every design into every template and hands you a ZIP.
| What | Free | PAID $7.99/month | Premium $19.99/month |
|---|---|---|---|
| PSDs × designs per run | 20 × 50 | 20 × 50 | 20 × 50 |
| Quick Smart O (browser) | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Complex engine (browser) | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Monthly allowance | 200 | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Images per batch, other tools | 10 | 500 | 500 |
| Vortex cloud renders | — | 450 / month | 2,000 / month |
| Workflow (chain every tool) | — | — | Yes |
Every engine on Free runs inside your browser, so your PSDs and artwork never leave your computer. That matters if you sell original designs you haven’t launched yet.
How far do 200 free mockups go?
200 mockups cover a real product drop: for example 10 new designs on 4 templates is 40 mockups, so you can do that five times a month. The math is always designs × templates. One design in 20 PSDs is 20 mockups; 50 designs in 4 PSDs is exactly 200.
- Etsy weekly drop: 10 designs × 5 scenes = 50 mockups a week, 200 a month.
- One big launch: 40 designs × 5 templates = 200 in a single run.
- Testing new templates: 3 test designs × 20 PSDs = 60, and you still have 140 left.
One honest limit: a single run can’t be bigger than what is left of your month. A full 20 × 50 run is 1,000 mockups, which is more than the Free allowance — so on Free you use the big run size for many templates with a few designs, or many designs with a few templates. If you regularly need more than 200, that is exactly what the $7.99 plan is for. See how a 1,000-mockup run is planned.
Quick Smart O or Complex: which free engine should you use?
Use Quick Smart O when each PSD has one smart object, and Complex when a PSD has several smart objects, masks or layer folders. Both are free now. Quick Smart O is the fast path for the classic t-shirt or poster template. Complex is a full PSD engine in the browser for front-and-back shirts, multi-print mugs and templates with lighting layers on top.
Complex can target exactly the layer you want. Auto detect picks the smart object for you, Focus fills one named layer, and multiFocus fills every smart object whose name starts with the same text. The full reference is in the Auto Detect, Focus and multiFocus guide, and this walkthrough on multiple smart objects shows real templates.
Not sure which one your PSD needs? The PodBulk engine questionnaire asks what your PSD looks like and points you to the right engine and setting.
What happens when a free mockup run fails?
PodBulk now tells you why a run failed and what to check, instead of a generic error. Every PSD is built differently, so the same setting can work on one template and fail on the next. When a Quick Smart O or Complex run doesn’t finish, a popup lists the reason for each problem PSD.
| Reason shown | What it means | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Smart object not found | The PSD has no smart object, so there is nothing to put your design into. | Convert the print area to a smart object in Photoshop or Photopea. |
| Many smart objects detected | The PSD has several, and the engine can’t know which one you mean. | Use Complex with Focus or multiFocus, or rename the one you want to “podmock”. |
| Smart object name not found | Focus or multiFocus is looking for a name that isn’t in the PSD. | Copy the layer name exactly; names are case-sensitive. |
| Curved smart object | The print area is warped, as on mugs and wraps. | Check the first result before the full batch; use Complex. |
| Couldn’t read this PSD | The file is damaged, unusual or too heavy for this computer. | Re-save the PSD, or render it on Vortex (PAID). |
Under the reasons there is a button that opens the questionnaire, so you can check how your PSD should be set up and which engine fits it. And the PSD check works before you run, too: when you add a PSD, PodBulk reads it, lists every smart object and lighting layer, and warns you if the run is certain to fail. If you are fixing a template by hand, these 12 smart object fixes cover the common causes.
When is it worth upgrading from Free?
Upgrade when 200 a month stops being enough, or when your computer struggles with big PSDs. The run size is already the same on Free, so you are not paying for bigger runs — you are paying for volume and for the cloud.
- PAID, $7.99/month: no monthly limit in the browser, 500 images per batch on every tool, and 450 Vortex cloud renders a month for the heavy PSDs your laptop can’t open.
- Premium, $19.99/month or $187/year: 2,000 Vortex renders a month and Workflow, which runs upscale, mockups, resize, watermark and PDF as one job.

“Three PSDs was never enough to know if PodBulk fits your shop. Now Free gets the same run size as PAID and Complex too — use it on your real templates, and only pay when you’re making more than 200 a month.”

How do you start making free bulk mockups?
Create a free account, open the PSD Mockup Generator, add your PSDs and designs, and run. The whole setup takes about a minute.
- Open the PodBulk PSD Mockup Generator and sign up free.
- Pick Quick Smart O for one smart object, or Complex for several.
- Drop in up to 20 PSD templates. The PSD check lists their smart objects straight away.
- Add up to 50 designs, keeping the total within what is left of your 200.
- Run, then download one ZIP of finished mockups.
Then rename the files for Etsy search with Bulk Rename, which never counts against your allowance. New to the idea? Start with how to bulk replace smart objects without Photoshop.
Try it on your own PSDs. 200 free mockups a month, Complex included, no card and no Photoshop.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a free bulk PSD mockup generator?
Yes. PodBulk’s Free plan fills your own PSD templates in bulk in your browser: up to 20 PSDs × 50 designs per run, both the Quick Smart O and Complex engines, and 200 mockups a month. No card and no Photoshop are needed.
How many free mockups do I get per month?
200. Each mockup counts as one, and so does each image you process with the other bulk tools. Bulk Rename never counts. The allowance resets at the start of every month.
Is Complex mode free?
Yes. Since October 2026 the Complex engine, for PSDs with several smart objects, masks and folders, is included on the Free plan. You only need a free account.
What is the difference between Free and PAID?
The run size is the same: 20 PSDs × 50 designs. Free is capped at 200 a month and 10 images per batch on the other tools. PAID ($7.99/month) is unlimited, takes 500 images per batch and includes 450 Vortex cloud renders a month.
Why did my free mockup run fail?
Usually the PSD itself: no smart object, several smart objects when the engine expects one, a layer name that doesn’t match, or a file too heavy for the computer. PodBulk now shows the exact reason after a failed run and offers a short questionnaire that tells you how your PSD should be set up.
Do my designs get uploaded on the Free plan?
No. Quick Smart O and Complex render inside your browser, so your PSDs and designs stay on your computer. Only Vortex, the cloud engine on PAID and Premium, sends PSDs to PodBulk’s server, where the temporary copy is deleted 48 hours after last use.
